A look inside the former villa of Estée Lauder
The villa, which was built in 1920, is well appointed with ultramodern furnishings and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sea. It has 10 rooms, 6 bathrooms, a guest apartment as well as a swimming pool, and a total area of 450 m². The distinctive design of Estée Lauder’s cosmetic line is graced with a concise, Mediterranean turquoise blue. The turquoise-blue walls in the staircase add an exciting, colourful accent. The current owner of the villa is also honouring her famous predecessor by dedicating a room to her memory, containing works of art, memorabilia and photographs documenting her life and success. These precious belongings can also be purchased. Lauder came from a Hungarian-Austrian family, who immigrated to the US and achieved great success. Shortly after she founded her company in 1946, innovative marketing activities brought Lauder fame: she had handed out free samples for advertising purposes in trendy hotels and well frequented department stores – a first in the history of the cosmetics industry. When she passed away in 2004, Estée Lauder was one of the wealthiest women in the world. Shortly before her death, she was awarded the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honour in the USA.
