If you have a taste for finer things in life, you are bound to be familiar with Swiss fine watch brand, IWC Schaffhausen. Founded in 1868, in Schaffhausen, Switzerland by American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones, the brand is renowned for its range of exquisite timepieces that effectively marry precision engineering and exclusive design.
IWC Schaffhausen, along with other leading watchmakers was a participant at the recently concluded Watchers and Wonders event 2015, which was held at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre in Wan Chai from 30th September to 3rd October. This annual event attracts watch lovers and aficionados from all over the region to Hong Kong’s shores who delight in the chance to view Haute Horlogerie at close quarters.
However, this year, IWC Schaffhausen partnered with us at Engel and Volkers Hong Kong to offer our select VIP clients a truly unique experience. The select group was invited to view the brand’s newest selection of exquisite timepieces including the nautically inspired Portugieser collection of precision instruments. Along with the viewing, they also had a chance to learn the unusual and signature technique of crafting these mechanical wonders by way of a watchmaking class with master watchmaker Kurt Klaus. Under Klaus’s tutelage, the guests learned to deconstruct and reassemble the fine timepieces produced by the brand. The group were enthralled and delighted by the fascinating experience that revealed the skill and expertise needed to create these mechanical masterpieces.
After the class, the group attended a VIP luncheon at the Grand Hyatt hotel where they had the chance to meet and mingle with CEO Georges Kern and creative director Christian Knoop of IWC Schaffhausen.
The event was a great success and very well received and appreciated. The response has thus provided an impetus for both luxury brands to forge this partnership further.
