Monte Verde – This older style luxury apartment building in Hong Kong was completed in 1974. Situated high in a prestigious elevated location gives you the perfect vantage point with magnificent views from all apartments towards Deep Water Bay and the surrounding countryside. The building has a total of 40 apartments with 2 spacious apartments per floor. These are mostly configured as 3 and 4 bedroom layouts with an average size of 1961 sq ft saleable area. All come with forward facing balconies and have varied and in some cases high quality renovations.
Monte Verde is located very close to a number of prestigious international schools. There are plenty of amenities on your doorstep including supermarkets, shops and a variety of highly regarded restaurants, along with Hong Kong’s finest golf, cricket & yacht clubs.
The district is highly sought out by expat families because of the quieter beach lifestyle yet still so close to the city, schools and hospitals. The dwellings tend to be larger in proportions with western-style layouts and room for domestic help. The district is also popular because it affords many outdoor activities and recreational options.
One of the most favoured activities in Hong Kong is hiking via the plethora of hiking trails. Monte Verde is within an area that has numerous trails that offer glorious vistas and scenery. Some of these are historical tracks famously trodden for hundreds of years like the famous Dragon Back or the Twins. No matter what your fitness level you can find a trail to suit you. Check out the Wong Nai Chung Reservoir Park which was completed in 1889 creating a majestic and peaceful reserve with the town water supply reservoir. An abundance of birds and wildlife inhabit the area so you may want to take a picnic and set some time to enjoy the tranquillity. Some of the buildings around the dam have been preserved and are classified as Grade 111 historical.
You will find many beautiful flowering plants along the trails, particularly between the months of November through to January. Cross the Tze Kong Bridge, follow the signs to Violet Hill and you are ready to conquer the Twins – two mountains and 1200 steps later you will be both rewarded and exhilarated when the view on the ridgeline opens out to Stanley Village, DÁguilar Peninsular and the ocean beyond.
Popular after hiking is the short taxi ride from the Reservoir to Shek O Beach and either a pint at Ben's Backbeach bar or late lunch at Thai restaurant on the main street. In the summer months, take a swim at Shek O main beach or head to Stanley and have cocktails on mainstreet watching the people go by.
In the evenings, from Monte Verde, you have any number of incredible eating establishments at your feet in Repulse Bay. Check out The Pulse .. a long stretch of beachside dining filled with award winning restaurants and clubs all with panoramic sea views. Take the family, have a romantic date night or meet up with friends. There is unlimited paid parking on site and plenty of taxis in the area.
Monte Verde is only a 20-30 minute commute drive to Central and the business districts and is on the regular bus and minibus services.
