Tin Hau, a quiet neighbourhood to live

Living in Tin Hau, you can imagine how peaceful the area is, how Tin Hau gives me the perfect contrast of busy city life with a quiet neighbourhood. This is a convenient area with a lot of shops, movie theatres, restaurants and even 24-hour markets. Some living apartments here have a rooftop zone that gives you the scenic view that spans from Victoria Park to Kowloon and on to Central Pier are something to behold.

History

Tin Hau, next to Causeway Bay, is a quiet residential area with a combination of dong laus, high-rises built in the 1970s and 1980s, along with some new residential buildings that have propped up in recent years. Tin Hau also has a historical significance. The Tin Hau temple in Tin Hau is a popular place of religious significance, and some visitors from other countries may worship. Tin Hau is the Goddess of the Sea and temples dedicated to protecting the coastal areas all over Hong Kong. In the neighbourhood named after Tin Hau, the temple is set up from the 18th century.

Geographically set on Hong Kong Island, Tin Hau is located within close proximity of Causeway Bay, the Tin Hau temple, and Tin Hau station. Tin Hau is often used to be reported as tourist highlights and there are schools such as the Queens College and the Causeway Bay Sports Ground and the Central Library nearby. Most of the HK properties in Tin Hau offer unobstructed views of the sea as known.

One of them, The Pavilia Hill,  is the latest luxury development in Tin Hau. Developed by New World Development, it comprises five 31-storey blocks around a Japanese landscape garden.

Similar to other parts of Hong Kong, parking is scarce and can be hard to find. Some famous restaurants located in Causeway are Din Tai Fung for the dumplings, Korea Restaurant for delicious Korean barbecue and a Mexican restaurant that prepares the best nachos and tapas. For foreigners, you can also find the ambiance of both bars within the area and easily get yourself served with decent cocktails.

Tin Hau and Tai Hang as well are the two adjoining neighbourhoods better known for their abundant dining options, attracting foodies on the hunt for top restaurants and fine Italian cuisine. You can soak in Tai Hang and Tin Hau’s casual-cool vibes during the weekend. Famous for a new generation of eateries that invaded the neighbourhood, Tin Hau had already been known for its Japanese restaurants, Italian restaurants and hipster-friendly bars with a range of selections. This place can satisfy people looking for a cozy and perfect dining out experience.

Shopping and entertainment

A big contrast from Tin Hau when in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong’s premier shopping mecca which is one of the most crowded places on Earth. From sleek shopping malls and department stores to boutique shops lining Jardine’s Crescent, Causeway Bay promises endless retail therapy that can serve residents’ sudden needs for shopping wishes.

The major features of this place include the gleaming shopping centres of Causeway Bay, such as Sogo and Hysan Plaza. It is just a short distance away from Victoria Park and you can get to enjoy the view of this natural setting. You can also walk to Times Square in 10 minutes or find well-known fitness centres for a good workout.

Neighbourhood

Fortress Hill with older buildings built in the 1980s and 1990s is famous for its 80,000 sq ft Cantonese opera theatre which was built in the early 1950s and still stages productions. In March 2007, the smaller auditorium was rebuilt as a multipurpose theatre for stage performances. Cutting through Tin Hau to Taikoo Shing, most of the residential developments in Fortress Hill are on either side of the main King’s Road, Some of the popular developments in Fortress Hill are Le Sommet, Fortress Metro Tower, and Fortress Garden.
